Detonation is basically supersonic combustion, which can be applied in new generation engines. Results of detonation analysis can be also used in safety precautions for facilities using detonable substances like for instance hydrogen or acetylene. In this laboratory we are mainly interested in deflagration-to-detonation transition (DDT) as a detonation initiation process. However, to fully understand DDT we also research on shock wave boundary layer interaction, chemical reaction models, fast flames, bow shocks and other subjects directly connected with process of combustion. In our laboratory numerical calculations as well as experimental research are performed. It is essential to be able to compare results of numerical analysis with real-life phenomenon.
